I got this in an email as a forward and I just knew I had to share it. This is brilliant!
1) Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble, but it is a "steering wheel" that directs the right path throughout.
2) So why is a car's WINDSHIELD is so large & the rear view mirror is so small? Because our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE. So, look ahead and move on.
3) Friendship is like a BOOK. It takes few seconds to burn, but it takes years to write.
4) All things in life are temporary. If going well, enjoy it, they will not last forever. If going wrong, don't worry, they can't last long either.
5) Old friends are gold! New friends are diamond! If you get a diamond, don't forget the gold! Because to hold a diamond, you always need a base of gold!
6) Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, GOD smiles from above and says, "Relax,
sweetheart, it's just a bend, not the end!
7) When GOD solves your problems, you have faith in HIS abilities; when GOD doesn't solve your problems HE has faith in your abilities.
8) A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything worse than losing eye sight?" He replied: "Yes, losing your vision!"
9) When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them, and sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you.
10) WORRYING does not take away tomorrow's TROUBLES, it takes away today's PEACE.
I'm a traveler in my soul & a country girl at heart. I strive to blend these two to create my reality.

Daily Projects in 2012
During my annual Christmas celebration with my dad's side of my family, I was having a talk with my younger cousin. We began talking about apps for our cell phones, and suddenly the topic changed to cool websites. She told me about pinterest.com. It's a website where you can make boards that are filled with ideas such as dream home ideas, recipe ideas, do it yourself ideas, or fitness ideas. The list goes on and on as to what type of board a person creates. Each pin is linked to a website and it is essentially a unique way to gain ideas from all over the internet. These boards that a user creates can serve as a visual "favorites" storage space. The website is quite useful. In the two weeks I've known of the website, I discovered two very unique ideas to capture my year.
The first idea is to create a booklet of 365 things I am thankful for. I'm sure most of the things I pick will somehow tie into my day. I'm anxious to put this together and look forward to looking back at it when it's finished.

The second idea is to create note cards for each individual day of the year. On the note cards, I will put one thing I did that day. This is something I want to keep up so I will be able to look back at January 2nd and see what I did in 2012, 2013, 2014, and so on. This will be a project I continue forever and I feel it will be unique to look back on once two or three years pass. It will be even more neat to look back at in 10 or 15 years.

Finding Meaning

I have a confession: I read a particular blog religiously. This blog can also become a religious obsession for you if you so choose. Click on the following link and be prepared for your life to change: http://www.marcandangel.com/. Ok, seriously, this blog has changed my life and it continues to change my life every Monday.
A few weeks ago, the writers of this blog provided me with a long list of questions that I think everyone should answer. The blog post is entitled "95 Questions to Help You Find Meaning and Happiness." It can be found here: http://www.marcandangel.com/2011/12/04/95-questions-to-help-you-find-meaning-and-happiness/.

Defining Family
In my Interpersonal Communication class, we spent most of class yesterday defining family. The discussion was thought provoking, and it made me think about how I would define family and who I consider to be my family. We broke up into groups and each group had to come up with a definition for family. Each one was very different, yet they all ended up being similar in unique ways.
I wanted to share them because it was a powerful lecture. If you haven't realized it yet, family is the only thing we are guaranteed in this life. I do not are how old you are, you should cherish your family and make time for them.
Here are the different definitions my classmates came up with:
"The involvement between two or more people who share an unconditional love type relationship and are willing to sacrifice..."
"...at least two people who share an intimate bond where mutual sacrifices shape who we are within the family"
"Unconditionally your own and is unrestricted through blood line..."
"A structural unit comprised of two or more people who feel a sense of permanent belonging towards one another"
"A collection of at least two people who share blood and they form a family who share similar definitions of what a family is"
"A reciprocal support system; two or more people who express compassion and unconditional love to each other"
Does anyone have any guesses as to which one is mine?

What I'll Miss About Home
I recently found out this past week that I am going to be studying abroad starting in February. In the last year, I have realized how beautiful my home area is and how much I love living here. Currently, I'm beyond excited to be living in a different country for nearly five months; however, I am quickly realizing all the little things that I am surrounded by that I will miss. Here's a list to capture these small moments, routines, and things I have admittedly taken for granted.
1. The luxury of taking care of my horses on a daily basis and seeing them in my backyard whenever I want.

2. Morning chats with my mom over breakfast.
3. Daily motivational texts from my friend, McKenzie.
4. My commute to and from school: the view of the bluffs and the view as I turn onto my road.

5. My dog: her morning wake-up calls, our wrestling matches, and being able to spoil her with attention, love, and treats everyday.

6. My job. I'm going to miss working a lot while I'm gone. I'll also miss my co-workers and the regular customers who have began to feel like family to me.
7. My own personal living space. I know I'm spoiled and I will miss my bed and my bathroom...and as a whole, I'll miss my home
8. Seeing my friends and family whenever I want.
9. The nightlife downtown.
10. Hearing my little brothers hunting stories, ideas, and his day.
11. The way my dad helps me keep life in perspective and to not sweat the small stuff.

I love my life, but I am ready for this adventure, experience, and opportunity of a lifetime.
